Helpful Tips:
You can take any or all of these actions to change their home environment and relieve your dog's stress in addition to Sileo treatment: If your dog exhibits indications of noise aversion, consult a veterinarian. Never touch your dog or say "it's alright." During a noisy event, this will communicate the message that panting, pacing, and barking are acceptable responses. Never penalize a dog for property damage or an accident during a noisy event. This may make them even more frightened of the sound. It's important to remember that they're acting out of fear, not malice. When noise happens, act normally - for example, watch TV, read a book, or play with the dog. Be there to console your dog. Create a secure sanctuary for your dog in a soundproof bathroom, closet, or basement. To reduce visual stimulation during pyrotechnics, close the drapes and keep the room brightly lighted. Music can be used to mask disturbing noises. Classical music has been demonstrated to help dogs relax. Reduce or eliminate your exposure to frightening noises.
Overview
Dosing Recommendations: 4.4-12.1 Lbs: 0.25 mL 12.2-26.5 Lbs: 0.5 mL 26.6-44.0 Lbs: 0.75 mL 44.1-63.9 Lbs: 1 mL 64.0-86.0 Lbs: 1.25 mL 86.1-110.2 Lbs: 1.5 mL 110.3-137.8 Lbs: 1.75 mL 137.9-166.4 Lbs: 2 mL 166.5-196.2 Lbs: 2.25 mL 196.3-220.5 Lbs: 2.5 mL If the noise persists for more than 2 to 3 hours and fear or anxiety symptoms emerge, give extra doses a minimum of 2 hours apart. It is possible to deliver up to 5 doses during a single loud event. When the owner detects a fear or anxiety-inducing noise stimuli (such as fireworks or thunder), shortly after the first symptom of noise-related fear or anxiety, or about 30-60 minutes before a scheduled anxiety or fear-inducing noise stimulus begins, give the first dosage. Divide the dose across each side of the dog's mouth when providing a dose larger than 1.5mL. Sileo includes 0.1 mg dexmedetomidine hydrochloride per milliliter. Because this gel dissolves into the oral mucosa, it should not be eaten. The product may not be effective if consumed. If the dose is swallowed, wait at least 2 hours before administering another dose. 125mcg/m2 is the recommended dosage. Inject into the dog's oral mucosa between his or her gums and cheeks.
